Thirstle "T.C." Cox

Thirstle "T.C" Cox, 86, of Scottsburg, Indiana passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 in Clarksville, Indiana. Born July 18, 1934 in Clay County, KY, he was the son of the late Alex and Ruby (Bowling) Cox. T.C. retired from the American Can as a skilled millwright after 30 years of hard work and general shenanigans. He always said they didn't pay him for what he did, they paid him for what he knew. He spent his retirement years doing carpentry work, painting houses, helping the local tow truck company, chit-chatting at Julian's Amaco Station and Waffle House, and raising grandkids and great-grandkids. T.C. loved and adored the many neighbor kids he had through the years as if they were his own; they called him Papaw. Survivors include his children, Tom (Anne) Cox of Scottsburg, Indiana, Tim Cox of Grovetown, Georgia, Rita McCauley of Scottsburg, Indiana, Vickie (Brian) Robinson of Austin, Indiana, and Ronnie (Tina) Cox of Austin, Indiana, siblings, Ralph (Judy) Cox of Columbus, Indiana, Keith (Mary) Cox of Crothersville, Indiana, Agnes Reedy of Scottsburg, Indiana, Faye Amick of Denver, Colorado, and Dorie Pirtle of Scottsburg, Indiana He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Land) Cox, his parents, son, Roger Cox, and siblings, Howard Cox and Anita McClellan. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana with Pastor Joseph Quiles officiating. Visitation will be 11 am to 2 pm Thursday at Buchanan Funeral Home.
