February 26, 1943 - November 12, 2021
Molly (Morris) Whitcomb, 78, of Indianapolis, Indiana went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Friday, November 12, 2021. Molly was born in Hyden, Kentucky on February 26, 1943 from the union of the late Joel B. and Beatrice (Engle) Morris. She grew up in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains in Southeastern Kentucky as a coal miner's daughter. She eventually migrated to Indianapolis, Indiana and lived her adult life there. She enjoyed working with her friends and family as a skilled Journeyman at Bookwalter's/Rand McNally in the Graphic Arts International Union for over 30 years in Indianapolis, Indiana. She served as a Union Steward and was very active in the union. After her brief retirement from Rand McNally, she went back to the workforce at IPT in Greenfield, Indiana and worked there for several years before retiring the second time. She married her best friend Jerry Whitcomb in October 1982. She loved and served the Lord, and she was a member of Little Zion Baptist Church. She cherished spending time with her family and friends. She lived to bring blessings and joy to the world through her kind and giving heart and her witty sense of humor. She would prank people every time she had a chance and was always joking around and laughing with anyone around her. She was always the life of every party and family get together. She intrigued every child generation after generation when she sat around a campfire with them by telling the scary story of Bloody Bones and Yankem Stretchit. She loved her doll collection, spending time at Opossum Bend in Leslie County, Kentucky with family and friends, the Amish people and their simple way of life, gospel, country and Elvis music, birdhouses, plants, flowers, and her pets along with many other hobbies and interests. She had an amazing green thumb and loved teaching people how to grow things. She enjoyed growing vegetable gardens, flowers, and tending to her indoor and outdoor plants. She enjoyed the many trips she took all around the United States and Canada with her family and friends throughout her adult life. She supported many charities and always did her best to help anyone in need. You didn’t have to be blood kin to be family. Her family extends far beyond her immediate family, and she was known as Grandma Molly and/or GaGa to many children and adults all over the country. She never met a stranger and was deeply loved and appreciated by everyone. She never hesitated to speak her thoughts or opinions and she would jerk a knot in your tail in a hot second if you needed it because she loved you. She was a precious gift from the Lord and one of His angels here on earth who is now one of His angels in Heaven. She was proceeded in death by her father Joel B. Morris, mother Beatrice (Engle) Morris, husband Jerry Whitcomb, brothers Jerry Morris and Leslie Joe Morris, her beloved daughter Tronda Kay Morris, grandchildren Park Everette, Jocelynn Myrtle, Brandy Brock, and brother- in- laws Chrisley “Chris” Pennington and Raymond Fulkerson.
