James Edward Kilburn, 86, of Austin, Indiana passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Hampton Oaks Health Campus in Scottsburg, Indiana Born September 8, 1933 in Owsley County, KY, he was the son of the late Edgar and Helen (Gabbard) Kilburn. Jim was retired from American Can Company, a member of First Baptist Church in Austin, Past Chief of Jennings Township Volunteer Fire Department, a member of Westwood Golf Course in Scottsburg, and also served in the United States Air Force. Survivors include his two sons, James Rick (Debbie) Kilburn, Scottsburg, Indiana and Gary G. (Sherri) Kilburn, Austin, Indiana He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Brandy (Clayton) Kilburn-Gross and Patrick (Joanna) Kilburn, 5 great-grandchildren, Johnny Bush, Kaylee Bush, Ari Kilburn, Josephine T. Kilburn, and Amelia S. Kilburn.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann (Elam) Kilburn, grandson, Joseph M. Kilburn, and two brothers, Bruce and J.C. Kilburn. A private funeral service for immediate family will be held at Buchanan Funeral Home on Friday, May 15 with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. A live stream of the funeral service will be available on the Buchanan Funeral Home Facebook page on Friday at 1:00 p.m. Due to the need for social distancing related to COVID-19, Public Visitation, with 25 people allowed in the building at a time, will be from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin, Indiana.
